In the traditional model, I am to modify the current curriculum and then send home the work each week for a tutor to help her with. I then received completed work, grade it and move on. There may be an occasional phone call or e-mail, but there is no real communication of dialogue with the student or her peers. But what if we were to hook a webcam in both the classroom and her home where this girl can now become part of the discussions and take part in more of the meaningful aspects of what Health class has to offer. In an article by Darcia Harris Bowman, she argues that by putting webcams in classrooms and homes; you will create better student interaction and reduced cost since you do not have to pay for that tutor. There is also podcasting, online exams and quizzes that can also be added to a teachers website to facilitate not only the homebound student but students who are sick an particular days.
Evidence
Bowman, D (2001) Create Virtual Classes for Homebound Students: Retrieved 4/23/07,
http://www.eschoolnews.com/news/showstory.cfm?ArticleID=3526
